Current Conditions
At 12:00 am, the temperature near the top of Brighton's Crest chairlift was 26 degrees. Winds on Cardiff Peak are averaging 7 mph out of the east with gusts to 8. In the last 36 hours, the snow depth midway up Solitude's Summit chairlift has decreased 3 inches. In the last 2 weeks, the depth has decreased 14 inches.
Forecast Conditions
The forecast says that yesterday at 5:00 pm until 5:00 am this morning, no new snow is expected. The nighttime low temperature will be 29 degrees. And today, from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am, no new snow is expected. The daytime high temperature will be 48 degrees.
Avalanche Forecast
The Utah Avalanche Center's avalanche forecast for the Salt Lake area on Monday, March 18, says, "The avalanche danger will again rise to MODERATE for wet avalanches on all steep solar aspects and some lower elevation polar aspects. Don't overstay your welcome on (or below) terrain once the snow become wet, unsupportable, and unstable. Cornice-fall, glide avalanches, and roof-alanches should be on your radar this week."
