Current Conditions
At 5:00 pm, the temperature near the top of Brighton's Crest chairlift was 31 degrees. Winds on Cardiff Peak are averaging 5 mph out of the southwest with gusts to 7. In the last 12 hours, the snow depth midway up Solitude's Summit chairlift has increased 3 inches. In the last 3 weeks, the depth has decreased 22 inches.
Forecast Conditions
The forecast says that from 5:00 pm today until 5:00 am tomorrow, there is a 75 percent chance of 1 to 8 and a half inches of snow and a 25 percent chance of a half to 1 inch. The nighttime low temperature will be 32 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of lightning. And tomorrow, from 5:00 am until 5:00 pm, there is a 75 percent chance of 2 and a half to 4 inches of snow and a 25 percent chance of 2 to 2 and a half inches. The daytime high temperature will be 39 degrees. There will be 20 percent chance of lightning.
Total snowfall of 7 to 15 inches is forecast for the current storm which began at approximately noon yesterday and is forecast to end at 6 am on Sunday. Total water in this storm is expected to be 1.3 to 1.9 inches.

The Utah Avalanche Center's avalanche forecast for the Salt Lake area on Friday, April 26, says, "Thank you for a great season!Regular avalanche forecasts have ended. We will be issuing intermittent updates through May 1st. This most recent update is from Friday April 26, 2024. During the spring, there are typically three different avalanche problems: 1. Wet Snow: Wet loose avalanches, wet slab avalanches, and glide avalanches 2. New Snow: New storm snow instability as soft slab avalanches and loose dry avalanches 3. Wind Drifted Snow: Wind slabs; soft or hard drifts of wind-blown snow."
